Eligibility for participation in the promotional exam process shall be based upon the requirements as outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement between Marysville Fire District and Marysville Professional Fire Fighters Local 3219, IAFF, Article 15.6, Promotions within the Bargaining Unit.

  2. Promotional Process Promotions to the Medical Services Officer (MSO) position shall be based on the length of service requirements and the successful completion of an Assessment Center.
  3. The Assessment Center may include, but is not limited to, a written examination, oral interview and presentation, tactical exercises, and problem-solving skills.

The Assessment Center will focus on leadership and paramedic/medical skills unique to the MSO position. The combined score from an Assessment Center will place candidates onto a promotional eligibility list, ranked from high to low. Candidates shall be hired from the promotional eligibility list.

  1. A promotional eligibility list shall be valid for one (1) year.
  2. The Marysville Fire District Board of Directors has the discretion to extend a promotional eligibility list by one (1) additional year.
  3. Minimum Service Requirements Eligibility to apply for the MSO position shall be at least seven (7) years of experience as a Paramedic, with at least three (3) years served at the District.

Promotional Authority Promotional authority for the MSO position shall be empowered to a committee consisting of the Fire Chief, Deputy Chief of Operations, and the Battalion Chief/MSA. Education Bonus Points for MSO Position Candidates for the MSO position qualify for education bonus points.

The following bonus points will be added to a candidate’s final composite score. All categories of bonus points must be completed by the closing date of the application. Note: The bonus points below for the MSO promotional process are provisional only.
