What is the difference between clinical pharmacy and pharmacy?
Clinical pharmacists interact directly with physicians and patients in a hospital or other type of health care institution. Retail pharmacists, on the other hand, operate in a pharmacy that is located inside of a shop, generally a major chain store such as CVS or Walgreens.
What is institutional pharmacy?
The term “institutional pharmacy” refers to any pharmacy that is housed within a hospital, sanitorium, clinic, or dispensary and provides compounded or dispensed medications to the facility’s patients as well as the patients of any other licensed in-patient health care facility with which the institution has a contractual relationship.
