What is a personal statement for pharmacy school?
As part of the application process for pharmacy school, a personal statement is often required by many schools. This is essentially an essay in which you discuss the reasons behind your desire to become a pharmacist, as well as the ways in which your personal history and accomplishments support this objective.
What does a good personal statement look like?
Instructions on how to compose a personal statement – Your personal statement should include a concise summary of who you are, your greatest assets, and any relevant professional experience or education you may have. Make sure to add talents that you’ve picked up along the way, such as time management, providing excellent customer service, working well in a group, using computers, etc.
Be careful not to fill it with tedious business jargon, and avoid using tired phrases like “hard worker” and “works well alone or as part of a team.” You may still find other methods to market yourself, such as include your hobbies and interests that exhibit talents which are related to the job you’re asking for: even if you have little to no work experience, you can still find other ways to sell yourself.
The leader of the hockey team at the school (shows leadership) Participation in volunteer or community service (which demonstrates initiative) Taking trips to various museums and art galleries (if applying for a job in something relevant) In the same vein, avoid disclosing any personal information that isn’t directly associated with the job for which you’re applying.
